Best Record Store in Town
Opened in 1982, independently owned Waterloo Records has been voted best record shop in Austin every year since by the Austin Chronicle. With over 6,000 square feet of retail space, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you probably haven’t looked hard enough.
For Fans and Aficionados
Known for its great in-store events, it has hosted everyone from rising locals to top of the chart names—everyone from Willie Nelson to Nirvana to Norah Jones. During the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, the store hosts up to ten bands a day for free concerts in the parking lot.
The shop sells new and used vinyl, CDs, and movies as well as band merchandise and posters. Entire sections are reserved for local band listening, and its liberal return policy has been a customer winner since it opened. A must stop for the die-hard music aficianado for classics and hard-to-finds as well as the avid current chart-topper fan.
