New Orleans Museum of Art

View more than 40,000 pieces of art, and beautiful sculpture in a sculpture garden, at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

The New Orleans Museum of Art, also known as NOMA, has more than 40,000 pieces of artwork. This is impressive, considering the museum opened in 1911 with just 11 works. NOMA features a vast and varied collection of art from Asia and Europe. Many European masters from the 16th to the 20th century have pieces on display at NOMA and there are some spectacular sculptures from around the world exhibited in the museum’s Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, which sits adjacent to NOMA in City Park.

A Must-See Museum in New Orleans and the Country

Art lovers say that NOMA is a must-see museum in New Orleans and in the United States. Even those who don’t regularly follow art, or know thing about art, enjoy visiting NOMA to view the extraordinary pieces on exhibit in what’s a rather small museum. The museum’s intimate size is, for many, an ideal way to examine art in a manageable and pleasant fashion. NOMA offers a range of works, despite the building’s size, to impress and excite many tastes, preferences, and interests.
