The Second City

Second City Chicago first swung open its door in 1959, since then an array of famous faces have passed over the threshold and gone on to become the most influential comedians of the 21st century. This epic, improvisational, comedy house provides some of Chicago’s best evening entertainment.

History

The Second City have always been masters of both sketch comedy (which follows a script) and improvisational comedy (unscripted and spontaneous performances). These comedy sketches and improvisations are actually the art form behind the famous American satirical TV show Saturday Night Live. Over the past 58 years, the comedy house has kick-started the careers of Bill Murray, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Poehler and Steve Carrell.
