The Midlothian snow sports centre has the longest dry ski slope in Europe. Situated at Hillend in the Pentland hills just outside Edinburgh, they have two main slopes, 2 nursery slopes, a jump slope and freestyle areas to satisfy skiers of all abilities.
It is a great place for children to learn to ski – lessons are available, in fact it is a national training centre for Scottish Olympian downhill skiers!
Floodlighting allows use of the slopes in the evening – with the twinkling lights of Edinburgh below, it can be a magical experience. Misting systems are used to create a realistic atmosphere as you traverse the slopes. Ski boots and skis are available to hire so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own.
Once you have exhausted yourself with all of the sporting activities on offer, re-fuel and relax at Café 360 – with fabulous views across the main slopes and the city, it is the perfect place to discuss your progress while indulging in a snack and a hot drink.
If you prefer to sit down with family and friends and enjoy a good meal after your day’s skiing,The Steading restaurant and bar closeby is a family friendly establishment serving hearty food and real ales.
