The Pousada shows off the saturated yellow hues and neo-Manueline style of the Pombaline. With its central–and dramatic–location, it provides stunning views of the Tagus River right outside the door.
Historic yet Modern
The Pousada takes its historic location in the former Affairs Ministry and uses that inspiration to bring tradition alive with a modern sophistication. The Praça do Comércio is right outside, a dramatic, wide public space that perfectly frames an extraordinary view of the Tagus River. Inside, the Pousada is no less dramatic with artwork and antiques that showcase Portuguese style and history–without losing the modern amenities travelers enjoy.
Sophistication and Tradition
The rooms at the Pousada are individually designed, with the focus on subdued colors and comfort. The design style is in keeping with the historic surroundings, but that doesn’t mean it’s dated. In fact, it truly feels like a modern adaption of Old World style. The public spaces have a level excitement–have a meal seated next to a near-full-sized horseman, enjoy the amazing view of the square right outside the window, or linger over snacks beneath eye-catching brick-vaulted ceilings.
