A carnivore’s dream come true
Officina della Bistecca is hidden away in the medieval town of Panzano, in the Chianti region, and situated above a butcher’s shop. It’s the prize at the end of a treasure hunt for meat-eating foodies, though, with a specialty dish called the MacDario–after the restaurant’s owner and head chef, of course. Other delights from the butcher are also on offer, though you need to call ahead if you want a steak.
Relaxed dining atmosphere
The restaurant boasts an intimate, casual dining area where you’re bound to make a new friend, thanks to the one long table in the centre of the room where everyone sits. Downstairs, you can also take a class in butchery and come back from your holiday with a brand new skill and outlook on food.
The kitchen is open every day of the year except for December 25th–and yes, they do offer a vegetarian menu every day, which is just as good as the regular one.
