A Hotspot for Chilean Visual Art
Chile has a storied artistic history all its own. Visitors to Santiago can explore that history at the Museo de Artes Visuales, otherwise known as MAVI. The museum has a large collection of Chilean works from the 1960’s forward.
MAVI specializes in all kinds of visual art, from sculptures to painting to photography. It features works by famous Chilean contemporary artists such as Óscar Gacitúa and Pablo Domínguez. Even the building’s six exhibition halls themselves pay tribute to Chilean art: they were designed by Chilean architect Cristián Undurraga Saavedra.
The exhibitions at MAVI change regularly–check their calendar for details. The interior of the museum is clean, bright, and modern, and there’s also an outdoor patio. Worried about finding the museum? It’s hard to miss its ivy-covered exterior.
