Champagne King of California
The winery was bought and developed in 1901 by Paul Masson, a keen wine enthusiast and a host par excellence. As the founder of Paul Masson Mountain Winery, he was known for throwing lavish parties and his sparkling wines earned him the moniker, “Champagne King of California.”
The winery is known as much for its history as for its scenic beauty. Visitors enjoy strolling though the trimmed vineyards, immaculately landscaped gardens and soaring redwood groves. The century-old Winery Building made of sandstone blocks with its aged oak casks make for a treasured ambiance if you’re here for some good, old wine-tasting. Otherwise, you can always enjoy a picnic on the grounds while taking in some stunning vistas.
- Wine tasting is from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm from Friday through Sunday.
- Visit their website if you’d like to attend a concert here.
