Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake offers hiking and biking trails, kayaking, and boating right in the heart of downtown Austin.

On The Lake

With over 400 acres of surface area, Lady Bird Lake offers plenty of space for outdoor adventuring. Enjoy the beautifully kept landscape while kayaking, canoeing and rowing along the lake. Small motored boats are allowed. Several spots around the lake have shore access for relaxing and sunbathing. Fishing is allowed in designated areas.

Around The Lake

The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail makes a complete 10-mile loop around the lake. The trail surface is crushed gravel in most areas with never more than an 8% grade. The Trail Foundation, which manages the system, maintains public amenities along the loop including restrooms, exercise areas as well asThe Boardwalk which extends over a one-mile portion of the lake. Cyclists, walkers and runners share the space and enjoy great views of the city skyline. Since the lake is right in the city, restaurants and outdoor patio dining are within convenient walking distance.
