KL Forest Eco-Reserve (Bukit Nanas)

The KL Forest Eco-Reserve makes for an intriguing destination. After all, it’s not every day that you get to visit a rainforest right in the heart of a bustling metropolis.

Oldest Forest Reserve

The KL Forest Eco- Park, formerly known as Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, is one of the oldest in the country having been gazetted in 1906. Covering over 11 hectares, the forest gives you a glimpse of what Kuala Lumpur looked like long before the skyscrapers and four-lane roads came in.

There are many trails that criss-cross the forest floor. The top ones are:

  • The Bamboo Walk is a paved stretch with clusters of Bamboo providing shade along its length.
  • The leafy Suboh Trail takes you through a banana plantation into the rainforest.
  • The Eco-Park also boasts a wooden walkway, a few inches above the forest floor as well as a Skywalk that stretches 20 metres above the ground.

The majestic KL Tower is also within the KL Forest Eco-Reserve, so you can organize your visit to cover both places in one day.
