Kanazawa

Though this restaurant sits out of central Lisbon, it’s well worth a visit if you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine. Kanazawa is owned and run by chef Tomoaki Kanazawa who opened the restaurant to help feed the crowds of people who couldn’t get a table at his other Japanese restaurant, Tomo. Expect haute Japanese cuisine in a luxury setting.

What to Order

The restaurant only has eight seats (that’s right, seats… not tables) and the waiting list is long. Getting in here is almost near impossible, but when you do, you’ll realise what all the fuss was about. Opt for the tasting menu to sample some of Kanazawa’s finest sushi built using Portuguese fish and local seafood.

Getting Here

Kanazawa is accessible from central Lisbon via taxi in just under 20 minutes while public transport takes closer to 40 minutes. Simply hop on the number 781bus from Estacao de Santa Apolonia stop and take the ten-minute journey to Cais Sodre stop. Here you want to jump onto the metro’s orange line at Cais do Sodre and ride it until you reach Alges. From here the restaurant sits just a two-minute walk away.
