Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art

Located on the University of Texas campus, 'The Blanton' is one of the largest university art museums in the United States.

The Collection

With over 18,000 works in its permanent collection, the Blanton features European paintings, prints and drawing, modern and contemporary American art, and Latin American art. Signature works from the Renaissance and baroque periods include Luca Cambiaso, Ruebens, Poussin, Dürer and Tiepolo and 20th century art from Jasper Johns, Mark Rothko, and Ellsworth Kelley.

Theme Tours and Entertainment

Weekly themed tours focus attention on the museum collection, artists, and current exhibitions. Recent tours have centered on Warhol, Xu Bing, and the Gütenberg Bible. A rotating schedule of lectures and presentations bring depth and conversation to everything from food to art to theory.

A concert series presents musicians performing music in response to paintings, drawings, and sculpture on display and is free every Thursday. In addition, a film series explores art through new film releases, documentaries, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers and scholars.
