Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of fame is made up of 2,600 stars at present each embossed into the sidewalk that runs along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in central Los Angeles. The Walk of Fame stars honour America’s most celebrated actors, musicians, directors and producers across the decades and new stars are nominated and added each year.

From time-honoured actors to 21st century Disney characters, the Hollywood Walk of Fame has honoured many talented people over the years including Steve McQueen, Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep, Alfred Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand and Carrie Fisher to name a few. Mickey Mouse was actually the first animated character to receive a star in 1978.

The coral-pink terrazzo five-point stars all have an emblem on them. There are five different categories of emblem; classic film and camera, television receiver, phonograph record, radio microphone and comedy/ tragedy mask. Pack your walking shoes as the stars stretch for 1.3 miles and a good hour can be spent admiring the trail.
