Golden Gate Park

With over 1,000 acres, Golden Gate Park is one of the largest city parks in the US. Three miles long and one-half mile wide, it features everything from museums to gardens to outdoor sporting or just a nice lounge on a sunny day.

Golden Gate Park has something for everyone. With all the space, attractions, and activities, it would take several days to enjoy everything.

Golden Gate Park’s public recreation areas feature a broad range of activities. There are many areas for sports and recreation including tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, lawn bowling, fishing clubs, a golf course, horseshoe, archery–even a polo field. There are literally miles of trails for hiking and biking through grassy fields, lush gardens, and woodlands–right out to the beach on the Pacific Ocean. Several playgrounds just for kids–including a wonderful carousel–dot the park as well. Spreckles Lake within the park is a home to model boating enthusiasts where minature sail and electronic boats can be seen most anytime.

Special Interest

The list of individual attractions within the Park is simply amazing. Museums on site include the de Young, the Academy of Sciences, the San Francisco Botanical Garden and Conservatory of Flowers. Enjoy the outdoors, strolling through Japanese Tea Garden, checking out the working Windmills and Tulip Garden or visit the Bison Paddock for a peak at a small herd of this iconic American animal.
