Visitors can take a guided tour of the Romantic poet’s house exploring each room in detail before heading out to the small but manicured garden. Everything looks exactly as it would have done in 1799 including the servant’s kitchen where fresh food is laid out on the table, and you can try a taste of the 18th century.
The former poet laureate’s cottage sits on the outskirts of Grasmere in the very centre of the Lake District and has its own pay and display car park. Adult entry is £7.50, a child’s ticket is just £3.75, and a family pass can be purchased for £18.75. If you’re travelling in a large group check the website for group deals and offers.
