The Centro de Extension Artistica y Cultural is home base for the Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile. This symphonic orchestra is the longest running in the country’s history and was founded in 1941 with the belief that music was an essential public service. Its concerts span everything from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions.
The Ballet Nacional de Chile is also a resident company at the Centro de Extension Artistica y Cultural. Founded in 1945, it was the first professional dance company in Chile. The company now tours both nationally and internationally, but always makes time to perform in the CEAC’s fall season.
The Centro de Extensino Artistica y Cultural is managed by the University of Chile, and its students contribute to the fall seasons’ programming each year as well. The Coro Sinfonico UChile and the Camerata Vocal UChile round out the venue’s musical offerings. Should choral, chamber, and orchestral music not appeal, the CEAC also hosts the occasional contemporary concert.
