Buddakan serves eclectic cuisine inspired by Asian flavors.

Modern Asian–Emphasis on the Modern

Buddakan advertises that it serves “modern Asian cuisine,” which is certainly true–but modern may be the stronger element of the description. Even the restaurant’s decor is modern–stark and striking with subtle hints of Asian influence. Only the gold Buddha statue surrounded by curtained walls directly speaks to the great continent from which the restaurant draws its flavors.

Asia with a Twist

Buddakan rejects traditional Asian dishes in favor of more surprising combinations. There are a variety of eclectic Bento Boxes for lunch, and wasabi mashed potatoes for dinner. The eatery also serves impressive main courses such Five Spice Duck Breast with roasted garlic, corn, and scallion spoon bread.

The dessert menu is tempting. One especially innovative selection is the “Dip Sum” Doughnuts: five spice sugar doughnuts served with blackberry jam, chocolate sauce, and ginger cream cheese. Ultimately, Buddakan delights with its unusual perspective on Asian cuisine.
