Michael Solomonov is a James Beard Award winner, and Zahav is the chef’s effort to bring modern Israeli cuisine to the heart of Philadelphia. The menu features flavours from other countries in the Middle East and Northern Africa as well. What’s more, Zahav has one of the largest Israeli wine selections outside of Israel itself.

Simple Interior, Exciting Flavors

The restaurant’s interior has a pastoral feel, with its stone walls and wooden beams. Guests can see historic buildings from its large windows. And its most attractive feature is the open kitchen with views of the authentic wood-fired Taboon oven.

As for Zahav’s menu, the hummus is an especially popular dish. It also serves foods such as grilled duck hearts and sweet potatoes with dates. The menu mostly consists of small individual plates, but the $45 tasting option is an excellent way to sample a variety of flavors for a good value.
