Uffizi Gallery

Considering the rich amount of masterpieces and unique artworks, it is no wonder that Uffizi Gallery is one of the most famous museums in Europe. This gallery is located in the heart of Florence and features works by all the great Italian artists including Michelangelo, Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Cimabue, and Raffaello.

The Art Collection and History

Majority of the art collection at Uffizi Gallery comes from the Renaissance period. The state of Tuscany received the main part of the collection from the Medici, so that the gallery could attract more foreigners.  The gallery has over 60 halls full of impressive works that date back to the period between 12th and the 17th century.

Entrance and Tours

Together with the Vatican Museums in Rome, Uffizi Gallery is very popular among tourists and there is always a line at the entrance. Visitors are advised to purchase gallery tickets beforehand, or book a guided tour to avoid hours of waiting.
