Skytree is an iconic, state-of-the-art broadcasting and observation that stands next only to the Burj Khalifa as the tallest tower in the world.

Ingenious architecture

Skytree was built in 2012 to meet the digital broadcasting needs of a growing city. The Japanese, naturally, ingeniously turned the tower into an architectural fashion statement as well as a popular tourist attraction. The 634-meter tall structure boasts two observation decks that are the highest in all of Japan:

  • Tembo Deck is a rotund, three-storey structure 350 meters above ground. The deck’s lowest storey has a cafe and a glass-panelled floor so visitors can enjoy great views of the city below.  The Musashi Skytree Restaurant and shop are on the floor above. The observation deck at the top offers stunning 360° views of the city.
  • Tembo Galleria is the higher observation deck and stands at 450 meters above ground. This structure boasts a unique glass and steel ‘skywalk’ which is a gently ascending ramp that spirals around the tower.

At the base of the tower, is a large mall with shops, restaurants, a planetarium and an aquarium.

On clear days, you can also enjoy a picturesque view of the snow-capped Mt. Fuji in the distance. Oh and don’t forget to capture a glimpse of the tower at night – the illumination is spectacular.
