Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

As you enter the pillared portico of the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum festooned with hieroglyphs, you know you are in for a treat. This fascinating museum devoted to Ancient Egypt displays relics and artifacts from actual archeological sites in Egypt.

Antiquities galore

The Museum was founded by Dr. Harvey Spencer Lewis who brought together an impressive collection which was housed in the present building in 1966. Today, it boasts of the largest collection of Egyptian Antiquities in Western North America.

Curious exhibits

Before you ask, yes, they also have four human mummies and a baboon mummy. The Museum houses an unusual collection of cats which were considered by the ancient civilization to be ‘protectors.’ Naturally, there are several statues of Gods from the Egyptian pantheon. There are also several items of daily use like mirrors, perfume bottles and hair accessories. The Museum also has a reconstructed tomb where visitors can get a feel of what it looks like in an archeological site.

History buff or not, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is an intriguing destination for all.
