Setting the stage for Jazz since 1959
This happening club was the brainchild of accomplished saxophonist Ronnie Scott and Pete King who brought their own passion for music to their club. They managed the club and Scott was the MC for several years until his death. The club brought in and continues to invite several accomplished artists from both sides of the Atlantic besides encouraging fresh talent within the United Kingdom. Ronnie Scott’s has also featured many celebrated artists like Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Dianne Reeves, Anita O’Day, Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson.
A night at the club
The performance at Ronnie Scott’s is split into the Support Act which usually comes on first and lasts for 45 minutes followed by the Main Act which goes on for a couple of hours. Those who can’t make it early can always opt for the Late, Late Show that hits the stage at 11:00 pm.
They are very generous during the weekends, though. There are two house openings. The doors open for the first time at 06:00 pm and for the second at 10:30 pm where the Late Late show opens curtains at 01:00 am.
Ronnie Scott’s has entertained Londoners and visitors with the musical genius of some of the world’s greatest jazz players for several decades now. Needless to say, the club is packed nearly all days of the week.
