Richard Petty Driving Experience

Calling all race fans: take a spin around Las Vegas Motor Speedway in a racecar, NASCAR, or an open-wheeled IndyCar!

Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Just 15 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the location for Nevada’s Richard Petty Driving Experience. Shortly after opening in 1996, race legend Mark Martin won the first NASCAR cup event held at the track. To this day, the track is still home to NASCAR and IndyCar racing events. In addition to the superspeedway, there are other tracks here too, some paved and some dirt. Visit the Richard Petty Driving Experience website to decide which experience will be right for you. You will want to make reservations online or call ahead to see how busy the daily schedule is on the day you intend to visit. It is suggested, however, that you make reservations to ensure a place. Be prepared to complete a liability waiver and participant medical form. A $39 driver release fee is also required for those who will drive.

Ride with a Pro

One way to complete the Richard Petty Driving Experience is by riding along with a professional driver. Sit back in a 600-horsepower NASCAR racecar and buckle up for an adrenaline-filled ride of a lifetime. At speeds up to 155 miles per hour, you are sure to have a time loaded with fun…and perhaps a bit of fear! Ride-along experiences start at $109 and last 8 laps around the track. Riders must be at least 14 years old. (Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult while at the track.)

Take the Wheel

While the ride-alongs are popular, some visitors simply want a more intense thrill, and they will find it behind the steering wheel of one of the race cars available at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. The driving experience includes a driver orientation and an hour of training. Spin around the track for $299 as you complete 8 laps in a racecar on your very own. Real NASCARs are available to drive for $499, and so are IndyCars for $599. When you make your reservation, you will see there are options for drivers to go beyond the 8 laps, and there are even options to actually race against other cars on the track.
Top Tip: The Richard Petty Racing Experience provides a free shuttle service from most Las Vegas hotels to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Reserve your ride at least one day in advance.
