The Most Spectacular View of Rio
If you’re in Rio de Janeiro for anything longer than a flight transfer, you’ll realise pretty quickly that it’s an amazing city–but the full impact of this truly magnificent place is best experienced from the peak of Pão de Açucar, nearly 400 metres above the city below. You can go to Rio, but you can’t truly say you’ve seen it until you’ve seen it from here.
Take in the View from the Cable Cars
The view at the top of Pão de Açucar isn’t the only one you’ll get when you head up–there are two cable cars on the way, each offering stunning views of Rio and its surrounds along the way. They’re slow-moving enough to be a photographer’s dream, and they make the ascent nice and simple, so you don’t need to be a world-class rock climber to get up the mountain. While you’re between cable car rides, check out the souvenir and snack shops in Morro da Urca, where the first car stops.
