Arguably the best panoramic vistas of Barcelona are from Mount Tibidabo, at 512 metres it is the tallest mountain in the Serra de Collserola. Overlooking the entire city from above, this is a photographer’s paradise. Views of Gaudí’s masterpiece the Sagrada Familia Cathedral can be seen, and vistas all the way down to Port Vell and across to Montjuïc mountain are achievable from this magnificent platform.
A little outside the city, an early start is advised. It will take a bus, tram and funicular ride ascending the mountain to reach your destination, but you will not be disappointed. It’s not all about the views either – for families with children there is a wonderfully magical theme park at the summit, with all of the fun rides, restaurants and stalls you can dream of.
If the fairground of Tibidabo becomes too much, relax with lunch or tapas on one of the bougainvillea draped terraces which overlook the metropolis below, or visit the spectacular Neo-Gothic Church, Temple de Sagrat Cor. The Tibidabo Sky Walk is a great area to eat if you bring a family picnic, the food at the amusement park is quite expensive, with such incredible views and seating areas, bringing your own lunch is a great option.
A trip to Barcelona would not be complete without a visit to Mount Tibidabo, make sure you don’t miss out!
