Madrid Rio offers a breath of fresh air in the city centre
From Motorway to Park
Madrid Rio may be a lesser known attraction in Madrid, but it definitely worth a visit. This unique space was created in 2008, when one of the city’s main ring roads was moved underground. In order to have more green areas in the city centre, this section of the Manzanares River was converted into a 6km park with 5.000 new trees.
Madrid’s Very Own Beach
You can walk along the side of the river or sunbathe on its very own urban beach. It’s the perfect place for an ice cream on a sunny day, and can be a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Madrid Rio is only 1.5Km from Puerta del Sol, so very easily accessible.
Recreation For Everyone
Built with families in mind, there are 17 different play areas made from sustainable materials for children of all ages. There are also running circuits, picnic areas and places to rent bicycles. The whole family will be entertained, with exhibitions and music festivals on show too.
