Le Barbe à Papa

Small, quirky and always popular, Le Barbe à Papa – ‘The Beard’ - is a really traditional French bistro, well placed between the Gare du Nord, Montmatre and du Sacré Coeur. There are a few chairs outside, but step inside to the darkly coloured, intimate restaurant which is decorated in a vintage style with a large wooden bar and a quirky dining area with plenty of old barbers’ chairs! Walls are decorated with pairs of scissors, old price lists, photographs and several barbers’ mirrors and when evening falls, the industrial ceiling lights cast a warm golden glow over the restaurant. The atmosphere is always upbeat as it is always busy as ‘The Beard’ is a popular meeting place for local Parisians to enjoy a drink or meal together.

The cuisine is French/European and there are lunchtime and dinner menus including popular classics like Caesar Salad and tasty Cheeseburgers and some excellent signature dishes including excellent steak and ribs. There are fish and vegetarian alternatives too. Always ensure that you have a little room as the dessert menu is very tempting such as Le Vacharin Barbu which is ice cream and meringue with a red fruit coulis topped off with Chantilly. All of the dishes are beautifully and creatively presented. There is always a Dish and Dessert of the Day too! The selection of cocktails is trendy and there is a comprehensive wine list. Thursday evenings are popular as Happy Hour is held out on the terrace. Le Barbe à Papa also happily caters for family and corporate events.
