Jebel Hafeet

A visit to the Jebel Hafeet is certainly not for the faint-hearted as it includes exploring one of the most picturesque roads in the region. Some even say, the world. Well, it does call for a certain amount of agile driving up a mountain.

Exploring Abu Dhabi’s tallest mountain

Jebal Hafeet, Abu Dhabi’s tallest mountain (and UAE’s second highest peak) stands proudly at 1,240 meters above sea level and stretches to a magnificent length of 26 kilometers. While the mountain itself is a historic site, thanks to the discovery of fossils and ancient tombs, it is known for its scenic road that winds up spectacularly to the apex of the Jebel Hafeet.

A fascinating drive

The Jebel Hafeet Road stretches 11.7 kilometers from the base to the apex and comprises 60 bends. The 3-laned road (two ascending and one, downhill) built in 1980, cuts through the limestone mountain and affords sweeping views of the surrounding Al Ain region. At the apex is the premium Mercure Jebel Hafeet Hotel where you can settle down to a rewarding view of the surroundings.
