El Rastro Market

An interesting spot to visit in the centre of Madrid, and one of Europe's biggest open air flea markets. Crowds flock here on Sundays for a spot of bargain hunting.

Open Air Flea Market

El Rastro Market is one of Europe’s biggest open air flea markets, and has over 3.000 stalls. It is spread out over a large area, but the main street which has larger stalls is Calle Ribera de Curtidores. Locals and tourists visit this busy market on Sunday afternoons in search of great bargains.

A Display Of Old And New

With so many stalls displaying an array of interesting objects, El Rastro is the place to come to find a unique souvenir. Although the main focus of the market used to be antiques, today you can also find clothes, jewellery, handbags and furniture. Most products on display are new, but there are lots of second hand goods for sale too.

The Place To Be On Sundays

There is a great atmosphere in the market, and many of the local antique shops stay open too. Crowds often fill the surrounding bars, which offer the perfect place to enjoy a beer and some tapas after a busy morning.
