Darling Harbour

Akin to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour is a popular harbourside area aimed at catering towards tourists. This recreational complex is home to an array of high-end eateries mixed in with chain restaurants and boutique cafes; you’ll also find a wealth of museums and attractions right around the corner making it the perfect place to begin your Sydney based adventures.

What to do

The area is home to two of the cities most popular attractions (particularly for families); SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. Both of which offer an all exciting animal encounters with some of the countries native species including great white sharks and cuddly koalas. Another favourite activity in the area is riding the giant Ferris Wheel to enjoy panoramic views over the harbour.

Vivid Sydney

Every year the city of Sydney draws thousands of travellers and locals alike to its harbours to enjoy the annual festival of light known as Vivid Sydney. Most of the firework and light displays take place right here at Darling Harbour which comes alive in the evening. The festival lasts a good month and tends to run from the middle of May to the middle of June. Don’t worry, if you’re not in town for the festival as firework displays usually run at Darling Harbour throughout the summer months on Friday and Saturday nights.
