See one of the world’s most famous statues
One of the most famous landmarks in the world, the statue of Christ the Redeemer that stands atop the Corcovado mountain is one thing you absolutely must visit in Rio de Janeiro. The mountain and statue overlook the city–so you’ll be able to see it wherever you are–but getting to the top and looking out from the mountain, plus being able to appreciate the scale of the statue itself, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Get to the top with ease
Cristo Redentor might look impossible to get to, but it’s actually incredibly easy–just take the twenty-minute train trip directly to the top of the mountain! Trains depart every half hour, so you don’t need to time your trip too carefully, but do try to pick a clear day so you can see as far as possible, and visit early in the morning or at sunset if you want the most spectacular views.
