Coogee Beach

If you’re looking for a family-friendly beach, that’s a little less crowded than Bondi but with just as good sands, swell and shops then Coogee Beach is your answer. The beach sits a little further south of Bondi in the suburb of Coogee, an affluent residential area home to some of Sydney’s wealthiest residents.

What to Do

The most popular thing to do on Coogee beach is to relax on the soft sands of course, but there’s a lot more to do here than meets the eye. Activities include hiking along the coastal trail to Bondi, dining at one of the upmarket restaurants on the beachfront promenade and letting the little ones roam free in the Grant Reserve Park playground.

How to Get Here

From Circular Quay in the centre of Sydney, it’s only a 20-minute taxi ride to Coogee Beach. The area is also well serviced by a public bus, catch the 374 from Circular Quay Alfred Street, and you’ll be here in under 40 minutes without having to make any changes! Alternatively, had to Bondi and followed the coastal path round to Coogee which takes just over an hour.
