Castle Tavern

Castle Tavern is one of the pleasantest pubs in Oxford with its late 19th century exterior and warm, welcoming interiors.

Historic Tavern

Castle Tavern located at the corner of Castle Street and Paradise Street, was founded in 1892 and built in a unique mock-Tudor form. In 2013, it was taken over by Martin Forde who refurbished the tavern in an attempt to modernise the interiors. Now the Tavern belongs to the Hook Norton Brewery.

Relaxed and Warm

Castle Tavern serves classic pub foods like Garlic Mushroom Aioli, Castle Fish Cakes, homemade Chili Con Carne with rice, Mackerel Plate, toasties, sandwiches, nachos, and their signature Castle Platter. They have a tremendously varied range of craft beers, cask ales and cocktails.

They also have bartenders that are friendly and welcoming that will chat away if they aren’t too busy serving drinks. During winters, you can expect to rid the chills by their blazing fireplace.
