Barton Springs Pool

A man-made pool fed by local natural springs, Barton Springs Pool provides a great place to cool off on hot Texas days.

Swimming and Sunning

Located in Zilker Park across the river from downtown Austin, the Barton Springs Pool provides fun, sunbathing, swimming, and cool relief from the Texas heat. Visitors and locals alike enjoy the pool and its natural surroundings. The water temperature is a consistent 65⁰ to 70⁰ F year-round. The pool is closed every Thursday for cleaning to maintain a clean, safe environment for people and the local ecosystem.

A small concession stand is near the main entrance, but food is not allowed in the pool area itself. A bathhouse with showers and changing areas is also available. The bathhouse also features Splash! an educational exhibit about the natural springs and the native wildlife, including exhibits on the Barton Springs Salamander, an endangered species whose habitat is the four springs feeding the pool.
